Curatorial+Co. is thrilled to share a significant art consultancy project for the newly completed entertainment precinct at The Star Brisbane.
Emily Devers’ hand-painted mural, spanning 105m2 across the Event Centre at Queen’s Wharf, performs as a backdrop to the high-end events space, enhancing clientele’s experience through an immersion within its painterly textures and large areas of solid colour.
Blending contemporary painting and collage with markers of contemporary muralism, Emily creates a unique visual language. Moments of erasure and reapplication with the work reference the artist’s studio practice and unique aesthetic, providing additional depth to the mural.
Using the backgrounds of found images, or the “non-image” to divide and organise space in her painted compositions she is interested in the relationship between object and space within an image and continues to investigate this visual tension through her artwork and murals.
