Curatorial+Co. is proud to unveil a recent Art Consultancy project inside Australia’s first standalone Diptyque boutique, featuring a breathtaking mural by Katrina O’Brien as the store’s artistic cornerstone. Located within Melbourne’s Chadstone precinct, O’Brien’s immersive fresco spans across both wall and ceiling, resulting in fluid gestures and lyrical compositions that dissolve into a dreamy tableau, echoing the brand’s legacy and dedication to craftsmanship, imagination, and sensorial experience.

Guided by the rich history of Diptyque’s founding artisans, the story begins in Paris; Desmond Knox-Leet is an accomplished painter and Christiane Gautrot, an architect with a sensibility for craftsmanship. Built on a commitment to artistry and imagination, O’Brien’s evocative fresco reinterprets Diptyque’s far-reaching legacy, articulated through an interplay of abstraction, movement, and human emotion.

Sprawling the boutique’s left-hand-side, the mural unites counters with cabinetry through unfurling edges and undulating strokes that mirror the ephemeral nature of scent itself. The artwork serves as a backdrop of Parisian sophistication grounded in the ruggedness of the Australian landscape; a confluence of worlds expressed through movement, memory, and storytelling.

Aligning with our commitment to integrating meaningful, site-specific art into globally renowned spaces, Curatorial+Co. is honoured to have brought this vision to life alongside Katrina O’Brien and the team at Diptyque.
